Rubin mit Violetton, fette Schlieren, die das Glas rötlich färben. Bouquet nach Seifenkraut, stechender Alkohol. Mittlerer bis voller Körper, säurebetont. Langer Nachgeschmack, etwas seifig

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec '00
Full ruby. Sappy, high-pitched aromas of dark berries, bitter chocolate, mint and animal fur. Extremely unevolved, but already shows terrific verve and penetrating blackberry and licorice flavors, not to mention wonderful sweetness and precision. Finishes with fine tannins and expressive notes of black cherry, violet and mint. 92 points

Rubin mit Schwarz- und Violettönen, fette Schlieren, die das Glas färben. Alkoholbouquet, etwas undifferenziert. Mittlerer bis voller Körper, gut ausgewogen, versteckte Säure. Angenehmer Nachgeschmack, wärmender Wein

Wine Spectator 1999-11-30: Even better than the superb 1996, this young wine has an amazing amount of pure fruit. A thick and rich Cabernet, with loads of tar, green tobacco, currant and fruit character. Full-bodied, with chewy tannins and a tobacco and wet earth aftertaste. Seriously well structured yet wonderfully harmonious. Best after 2003. 97 points

Brillantes Granat, dichter Schlierenvorhang. Sehr dezentes Bouquet. Mittlerer Körper mit guter Struktur, etwas tanninbetont, sehr fein. Langer Nachgeschmack

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, July/Aug 00
Ruby-garnet with blackish notes. Intensely spicy, sweet nose dominated by plum; expansive and impressive. Massive and mouthfilling, with plum fruit of almost exotic ripeness. Complicating notes of tar and licorice. Finishes with great density and an avalanche of sensations that defies description. There have been so many great bottles of Percarlo that it is hard to rank them, but this 1997 is surely among the finest of all. 95 points

Wine Spectator 2000-10-31: Aromas of flowers, berries and cherries. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, long mouthpuckering finish. An outstanding Percarlo. Needs bottle age. Best after 2002. 1,610 cases made. 90 points

Helles Granat, hängende Schlieren. Feines Bouquet, noch etwas undifferenziert. Mittlerer Körper, etwas säurebetont. Sehr feines Tannin, samtig. Wärmender Abgang, sehr lang

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Mar/Apr 00
Deep red. Very sweet, spicy aromas of cherry, raspberry, caramel and vanilla. Brighter and fresher in the mouth; shows the thickness of the vintage but with very good clarity of flavor. Firmly structured and long. This will go truffley with bottle aging. 90(+?) points

Dunkles Granat, mittlere Schlieren. Holziges Bouquet. Im Geschmack etwas wässrig. Nachgeschmack nach Lakritze

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 00
Full ruby-red. Roasted currant, black cherry, coffee, garrigue and iron scents on the nose, with a distinct note of confiture. Bright and spicy, with smoke, mocha and licorice nuances complementing its currant flavor. Tannins are a bit tough, though, reflecting the moderate ripeness of the skins in '97. Will need patience. 88(+?) points

Wine Spectator 1999-12-15: Terroirdriven in its polish and concentration, this clean Rhone-grown Syrah tastes smooth, while a mineral component suggests the good terroir at play on the superb finish. It's a bit woody for now, but this is a ripe red, just needing time. Best from 2002 through 2007. 92 points

Rubin, gute Schlieren. Beeindruckendes Bouquet nach Zimt und Lebkuchen. Mittlerer Körper, starke Fruckt. Langer Nachgeschmack

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, July/Aug 00
Blackish ruby color. Expansive, penetrating aromas of plum, mocha, vanilla and tar. Round and elegant, but with substantial concentration and extract. Velvety and long. Shows the alcoholic warmth and very ripe fruit of the 1997 vintage. Shapely, classy wine. 90 points

Wine Spectator 2000-10-31: Unusual red here. Plum skin and tobacco character. Full-bodied, with lovely coconut and raspberry flavors. Delicious finish. Outstanding Merlot. Best after 2001. 4,000 cases made. 91 points

Dunkles Granat, fette Schlieren. Etwas Alkohol in der Nase + Kirschfrucht. Starke Lakritze im Geschmack. Langer Nachgeschmack

Deep ruby-red. Rustic, musky aromas of roasted plum, black raspberry, smoke and animal fur. Supple entry, then a wine of moderate sweetness and freshness. Seems slightly sour and dry on the finish, especially compared to a batch of this wine that was still in foudre at the time of my visit. 87 points

Wine Spectator 1999-08-31: Round but light, with anise and toasted character, showing some spice and smoke on the medium-long finish. Drink now. 80 points

Brillantes Purpur, schöne Schlieren. Dezent dunkelfruchtiges Bouquet. Mittlerer Körper, säurebetont. Langer Nachgeschmack

Aged in all new barriques. Saturated bright ruby. Cassis, bitter chocolate, violet, lead pencil and exotic spices on the nose. Very rich, dense and suave; thick dark berry and dark chocolate flavors saturate the palate. Finishes very young, with dusty (oak?) tannins and excellent length. 91(+?) points

Helles Granat, mittlere Schlieren. Alkoholisches Bouquet mit roter Frucht. Im Geschmack Bazooka. Langer Nachgeschmack

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Jan/Feb 00

Full red. Spicy aromas of framboise, leather and pepper; very rich but fresher than the Pignan. Thick but lively on the palate; very suave and rich. Not nearly as open today as the above. Peppery finish displays excellent persistence. This is very strong for the vintage. 90(+?) points

Wine Spectator 1999-12-15: A sinewy, uncompromising, traditional wine. Light in color and body, with a bitter mineralness that gives a certain fatness on the midpalate. The fruit is secondary--just modest cherry--but the iron and rust character is something else. Tannins are a bit tough and astringent on the finish. Best from 2005 through 2015. 88 points

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar, Nov/Dec '00
Good medium red. Subdued aromas of redcurrant and minerals. Fat, sweet and full in the mouth, with impressive extract. Lovely vinosity gives shape to the flavors. Quite firm and backward for a '97 Barbera. Finishes with a solid tannic spine and excellent persistence. 93(+?) points

Genereller Eindruck:
