2002 Wieninger, Tribute, Chardonnay, Wien, Austria:
Optic: Watery yellow.
Bouquet: First chalky note, then trace of butter.
Taste: Rather thin, yet fat taste. Fat finish.
Overall: Not a favorite of mine.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 11 for bouquet + 15 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 85.

2001 Etienne Sauzet, Les Combettes, Puligny Montrachet Premier Cru, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Watery yellow.
Bouquet: Floral nose, then biscuit.
Taste: Trace of oak, lots of acidity.
Overall: Not my favorite either.
Score: 50 + 2 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 87.

2000 Jacques Prieur, Chevalier Montrachet Grand Cru, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Light golden yellow, fat tears.
Bouquet: First burned rubber, then fine yellow fruits with stone.
Taste: Medium body, bit fat. Long finish, peristent tannins.
Overall: Perfect match with turbot with lardo.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 91.

2002 Albert Morot, Les Teurons, Beaune Premier Cru, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Light ruby with violet rim, fat tears.
Bouquet: Dark fruit, minimal PN stink.
Taste: Medium body, bit bitter, low fruit, good tannins structure. Long finish, bitter fruity aftertaste.
Overall: Quite typical Beaune.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 87.

1998 Arlot, Clos des Forets Saint Georges, Nuits St.Georges, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Medium garnet, fat tears.
Bouquet: Classic PN nose, first cheesy note, then marinated herring.
Taste: Medium body, intense velvety tannins, trace of fruit, good acidity. Medium finish, red acid fruit in the aftertaste.
Overall: Quite classic Nuits St. Georges.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 89.

2002 Gantenbein, Pinot Noir, Fläsch, Switzerland:
Optic: Light ruby, watery rim, very fat tears.
Bouquet: Dark fruit in the nose, PN but not Burgundy.
Taste: Medium body, bit fat, red dark fruit, hint of red currant. Long finish, persistent tannins, sweet.
Overall: In this stage kind of red currant wine.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 88.

2001 Méo-Camuzet, Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, Burgundy, France:

Optic: Light garnet, bit dusty, light rim.
Bouquet: Oaky note, red fruit, bit of PN stink.
Taste: Medium body, good acidity, bit coarse tannins. Long finish, mouth impregnating tannins.
Overall: Quity typical Clos Vougeot, not as fat as to expect from a Meo.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 7 for overall = total score of 90.

2002 Vogüé, Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Very brilliant light ruby, fat tears.
Bouquet: Very dark velvety nose, very clean, complex spicy.
Taste: Rather full body, massive tannins, dark red fruit, low acidity, intense, raspberry syrup. Very long finish, intense mouth impregnating warm velvety tannins.
Overall: Finish and aftertaste unbelievable. Should be really great in 15 years.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 93.

1937 Doudet-Naudin, Clos du Roy, Beaune Premier Cru, Burgundy, France:
Optic: Very light garnet, brick core, bit dusty.
Bouquet: Vegetal note, celery, later on candied orange peel, mocca note underneath, soy sauce.
Taste: Slim body, sweet-sour fruit, bit mouth impregnating, persistent tannins. Long finish, sweet-sour aftertaste.
Overall: Quite impressive for this vintage. Beware of great bottle variation.

Gesamteindruck: Wie so häufig bei Burgunderverkostungen stellt sich die Frage, was denn jetzt an den Burgundern dran sein soll, denn das kann es ja doch nicht gewesen sein. Die Weinauswahl ist wie immer aber speziell bei Burgundern essentiell für das Verkostungserlebnis – und mit wenigen Ausnahmen sind junge Burgunder nicht gerade überwältigend. In diesem Sinn hätten alle Weine vor 1993 liegen müssen mit den Ausnahmen 1997 und 2001 – bis auf eine Ausnahme (und den wohl interessanten aber bereits etwas absonderlichen 1937er) waren das aber alles junge Weine.

Die Küche war übrigens spektakulär gut, insgesamt also ein gelungener Abend.
