2000 Virna, Cannubi Boschis, Barolo, Piedmont, Italy: 91

Optic: Light ruby, brilliant.
Bouquet: Clean dark red fruit.
Taste: Medium body, clean dark red fruit, soft acidity, nice tannins, very good balance. Medium long finish, dark red fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Unknown producer for me - did a nice job.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 13 for bouquet + 17 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 91.

1993 Trapet, Chambertin Grand Cru, Gevrey-Chambertin, Cote d'Or, Burgundy, France: 93

Optic: Very light garnet, light rim, fat tears.
Bouquet: Classic Chambertin Grand Cru nose.
Taste: Medium body, bright acidity, clean mature but precise red fruit, very silky tannins, excellent balance. Long finish, persistent silky tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Great bottle.
Score: 50 + 3 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 93.

1990 Moccagatta, Bric Balin, Barbaresco, Piedmont, Italy: 90

Optic: Light ruby, light rim, strong floating sediment.
Bouquet: Mature nose, hint of lovage.
Taste: Medium body, soft acidity, sweet silky tannins, mature red fruit. Medium long finish, persistent sweet tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Quite mature, may be even well hung. The sweet taste is a bit weird, because this wine is certainly dry.

Optic: Dark ruby, good tears, some baked sediment.
Bouquet: Hint of liquorice and dark fruit.
Taste: Medium body, liquorice, good acidity, good balance. Medium long finish, soft dark fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Good choice for a starter bottle.

2001 Gourt de Mautens, Rasteau blanc, Rhone, France: 90

Optic: Pale yellow, bright, good viscosity, no sediment.
Bouquet: Slightly fat nutty nose.
Taste: Full body, low acidity, low fruit, soft tannins. Long finish, persistent soft tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: If I would have to describe the features of this wine with a line it would be a straight one. But certainly not boring and still good drinking at room temperature - always a good sign for a white wine.

2005 Neumayer, Ried Rothenbart, Riesling, Traisental, Austria: 90

Optic: Very pale yellow, bright.
Bouquet: Classic fruity Riesling.
Taste: Medium to light body, crisp acidity, sweet yellow fruit, soft tannins. Medium long finish, sweet soft fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: The sweet fruity aftertaste is a surprising good match with the sweet onions in Jansons Frestelse. Yet at room temperature no longer good drinkable.

Optic: Medium yellow, bright, fat tears.
Bouquet: Clean oaked yellow fruit.
Taste: Medium to full body, soft acidity, sweet yellow fruit, soft oaky tannins, hint of botrytis, slightly fat. Long finish, sweet soft fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Acceptable good match with Jansons Frestelse. Yet at room temperature not really good drinkable.

Optic: Brilliant golden yellow, fat tears.
Bouquet: Soft buttery nose, botrytis hint.
Taste: Rather full body, very fruity, good acidity, fine silky tannins with good persistence, slightly fat. Long finish, sweet fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Very good match with Jansons Frestelse despite the sweet aftertaste. At room temperature medium good drinkable.

Optic: Brilliant pale golden yellow, fat tears.
Bouquet: Delicate floral, violets.
Taste: Full body, low fruity, low acidity, very fine silky tannins, slightly fat yet elegant, excellent balance. Long finish, silky persistent tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Excellent match with Jansons Frestelse. At room temperature still very good drinkable.

Optic: Bright red golden yellow, very fat tears.
Bouquet: Sweet floral, violet drops.
Taste: Full body, sweet apricot fruit, low acidity, fine silky tannins, no botrytis note, no volatile acidity note, clean. Medium long finish, sweet silky fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Nice recovery wine.

Optic: Medium ruby.
Bouquet: Clinically clean, rustic fruit undertone.
Taste: Medium to slim body, low acidity, low dark fruit, silky tannins, balanced to a boring degree. Medium long finish, silky tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Flat and a bit boring.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 12 for bouquet + 16 for taste + 6 for overall = total score of 88.

Brett note well above my annoyance threshold as starter switched to a heavy TCA taint after some minutes. Bad luck.

Optic: Brilliant light ruby, fat tears.
Bouquet: Velvety, soft red fruit fruit, tad of brett.
Taste: Medium to medium full body, clean dark red fruit, delicate acidity, silky tannins, excellent balance. Very long finish, silky persistent tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Great bottle again. Like it.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 14 for bouquet + 18 for taste + 8 for overall = total score of 94.

Optic: Medium purple, bright, fat tears.
Bouquet: Rather heavy brett note, not so nice.
Taste: Medium body, thin metallic acidity probably due to too much of isovaleric acidity.
Overall: Bottle variation in the wrong direction.
Score: 50 + 4 for optic + 11 for bouquet + 15 for taste + 5 for overall = total score of 85.

Bouquet: Soft, nutty, bit oaked vanilla.
Taste: Medium to full body, ripe yellow fruity, crisp acidity, soft silky tannins with good persistence, slightly fat. Long finish, yellow fruity tannins in the aftertaste.
Overall: Again a nice bottle.

2001 Guigal, La Landonne, Cote Rotie, Rhone, France: 91

Optic: Very dark ruby, purple core, light rim, fat tears, bright.
Bouquet: Hint of 4-EP, roasted, smoky, spicy dark cool fruit.
Taste: Medium body, crisp slightly metallic acidity, therefore a bit thin in the middle, dark red fruit, bit bitter velvety tannins. Very long finish, velvety tannins with warm aftertaste, hint of hot.
Overall: For a Guigal single vineyard Cote Rotie surprisingly not boring perfect, but with some edges - therefore wine of interest.
