fruchtig, mittlerer Körper, Kurzer Abgang, etwas bitter. --------------------------- Und das meint Parker: This producer turns out a relatively austere, tannic, tight-fisted style of Chianti that is not my favorite, but one has to admire the wines' purity and structure. The wines are more architectural than hedonistic. The 1988 Vigneto Bellavista reveals an impressive deep ruby/purple color, a big, spicy, tobacco, herb, and leather-scented nose, spicy, ripe, rich flavors, and plenty of underlying depth to back up the tannins. It appears to be the best candidate for an outstanding score after another 1-2 years of cellaring. It should drink well for 12-15 years. 88 Punkte |

Frucht --------------------- Und das meint Parker: Antinori's Tignanello, one of the first proprietary red Tuscan table wines, is gorgeous in 1988. The color is deep ruby/purple and the nose offers up penetrating aromas of sweet red and black fruits and toasty new oak. In the mouth, this medium to full-bodied wine offers wonderfully precise flavors, excellent richness, good acidity, soft tannins, and a spicy, long, rich finish. Drinkable now, this wine should continue to evolve for at least 10-12 years. I would have to rank this vintage of Tignanello alongside the glorious 1985. The Antinori name on a bottle of Italian wine is about as close to a guarantee of quality as one is likely to find. Just about everything he does, in all prices ranges, is good. Even his white wines offer more pleasure than the run-of-the-mill, innocuous character most Italian whites seem to share. 90 Punkte |

Abgang. ----------------------------- Und das meint Parker (den 88er hat er nicht verkostet, als Ersatz der Kommentar zum 90er): The 1990 Sammarco may prove to be a worthy rival to the glorious 1985. The saturated ruby/purple/garnet color is followed by an intense yet youthful fragrance of ripe black fruits, vanillin, and minerals. Full-bodied, rich, beautifully delineated and structured, it possesses considerable body, tannin, and extract. Although accessible, it is extremely young and ideally should have another 2-4 years of cellaring. It should age well for 15+ years. As I have said many times, Sammarco always reminds me of a top Graves, because of the tobacco/mineral component it often displays. This outstanding Tuscan producer has been exceptionally consistent over the last decade, so it is not surprising that the 1990s performed brilliantly. 93 Punkte |

Zum Essen gab es liebevoll handgemachte Gnoccis, Carpaccio vom südafrikanischen Springbock, dicke Steaks von glücklichen südafrikanischen Kühen und in Brunello gedünstete Williamsbirnen mit Mandelkeks.
Genereller Eindruck: Das früher mit Toskanaweinen verbundene Lustempfinden ist diesmal ausgeblieben, obwohl 1988 ein sehr guter Jahrgang ist. Generell war bei den reinen Sangioveseweinen ein Mangel an Körper und Konzentriertheit festzustellen. Trotzdem ein schöner Abend. In der internationalen Weinkritik spielen die Toskanaweine eine etwas untergeordnete Rolle. Verkostungsnotizen von Parker konnten daher nur zu einigen wenigen Weinen gefunden werden.
